Remembrance t-shirt quilt

I had a friend of my Mom's contact me after she had seen one of the t-shirt quilts that I had made.  Her father had passed away and he had numerous very funny shirts.  She asked me to help her remember her father by creating a quilt with all of his favorite t-shirts.

I absolutely loved how it turned out.  All of the shirts were different sizes which made the placements of everything a bit more challenging than originally expected.  Because there were not enough shirts of just the right size, I included some fun printed fabric to fill in where other t-shirts would go.

Now to finally make one for myself...

Remote holder

In doing cleaning and organizing, I decided my mess of remotes needed a good place to hang out while not in use.  I would be looking all over the place when I wanted to watch a movie, so organizing seemed like a good call.

After doing some measuring and figuring out what I needed (with my wonderful little helper) this is what I ended up with.  So excited to have one thing in my life a little bit more organized!

Ribbon Holder

Another organization itch came over me (if I keep this up I might be able to take a picture of my sewing corer soon).  This time it was for all of the ribbons I have been using.  I didn't really want to spend the $40 for the ribbon holders that the craft stores sell, so I decided that I could make one.

My supplies:
- a couple of flat wood boards- mine were about 4"x12" ($1.99 for a set of two- I used two sets)
- a small wood rod- cut to the length of what I wanted the width of the holder to be (mine is about 10" wide) ($0.99)
- all of the ribbon that I have

I took a few measurements to make sure that I centered the rods in the middle of the flat wood boards (I didn't want the ribbons to be crooked).  Drilled two holes in each board and done.  My ribbon holders.  I did have to put little stick pins in the ribbons because I have a little helper that will unwind each ribbon spool that I have if I let her.

So for only about $5.00, I made two ribbon holders that stand up in my sewing area and are ready for me to use when I need them.

Wreath

No surprise, but I do like Pintrest- A LOT!

I saw this absolutely adorable wreath and thought, I can totally do something like that for my place.  After talking to a friend that is super crafty, she told me about a wire wreath base that has three spaces to "weave" the burlap (or ribbon if you like that) to make the wreath.

Because I cannot make a bow to save my life, my very creative Mom offered to make me a bow for the wreath.  Thank you Mom!

I love to paint- although never as me to try and free-hand something... that is out of my league. But I think I can do the dots on a solid color fairly well.  Of course I did a "J" seeing as how my name is Jacqueline.

I bought some cute red flowers from one of my favorite places to shop- Target!  (No matter how hard I try, I always walk out of there with something, usually not what I intended to get either.)
I have lots of red and greens in my living room- green is supposed to be calming.  Hot glued the flowers on the wreath and...

TA DA!

A very pretty wreath for my place.  It is on the inside of my place as burlap should not get wet.  If it does, it starts to smell.  So mine is inside because I do not have enough of an overhang by my door to keep the wreath from getting hit by the rain.

Cancer Quilts

I love quilting!  It is a great stress reliever and I get to use the creative side of my brain- I don't do many other things that are what I would call extremly creative.  At work, we have a relay for life team and after talking with them, I volunteered to make them not one, but two quilts - one t-shirt quilt (memory quilt) and one "HOPE" quilt.  We raffled off both of them to help support the American Cancer Society.

I thank everyone who donated money to put in for the raffles- all of my time and supplies were donated.  Between th tw quilts, we were able to donate over $750 to the American Cancer Society for Relay for Life!
